Douglas E. Brooks - President:
Douglas
E. Brooks, President of Compass Resources
completed over 24 years of service for Marathon Oil
Company serving most recently as the Director of Business
Development, The Americas. Previous positions included
Manager of Corporate Mergers and Acquisitions, leadership
positions in business development, planning and land.
Mr. Brooks has extensive experience in identifying
and acquiring properties and projects, in North America,
Asia and lead project teams in North Africa. Under
his leadership, the Company will focus both on low
risk resources plays and special situation opportunities
in conventional fields in the Rockies and Texas.
John L. Morgan - Vice President, Operations:
John acquired a degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Wyoming graduating in 1973. He spent 20 years with ARCO Oil & Gas with progressive management assignments in drilling, production, and asset/business unit management. His areas of focus included Gulf of Mexico Shelf and Deepwater, South Louisiana, Mid-continent, and the Rocky Mountains. John worked 7 years with Vastar Resources as Operations Services Manager covering drilling, completion, facility design & construction, materials & procurement, and reserves management. While at Vastar, his areas of focus included Gulf of Mexico Shelf & Deepwater, South Louisiana, East & South Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and the Rocky Mountains. Most recently he spent 6 years with Burlington Resources as International Operations Manager covering drilling, completions, production, facility design & construction with focus in the UK, Algeria, China, Egypt, and Latin America. The last two years John has played a major role in developing our current operations in Wyoming and Texas.
Jay Knaebel -
Vice President, Engineering & Corporate Development:
Jay graduated from the Colorado School
of Mines in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science degree
in Petroleum Engineering. Up until joining Compass
in March, 2007, Jay worked most of his career for
Burlington Resources in a variety operational, technical,
and leadership positions for assets in the San Juan
Basin, Western Canada, Canada Arctic, and China’s
Sichuan Basin, as well as several business planning
roles in corporate and divisional offices. Most recently
he supported ConocoPhillips’ East Texas Deep
Bossier and Texas Austin Chalk exploration efforts.
Jay has broad experience evaluating, exploring, and
developing unconventional reservoirs including CBM
and tight gas.
Robert Estrada - Chief Financial Officer:
Robert is an entrepreneur with nearly 18 years of accounting and finance experience in the energy industry. Most recently, he spent four years with Burlington Resources overseeing the financial operations of a $377 million portfolio of Latin America oil and gas assets in Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela. He is a graduate of Houston Baptist University with a BAcc double-major in accounting and finance. Robert started his career working in the area of taxation for firms Spicer and Oppenheimer & Pannell Kerr Forster. From 1991 through1997 Robert managed financial reporting and tax compliance for Floyd Oil Company’s East Texas, North Louisiana, and Texas Gulf Coast properties. During the next five years Robert took on increasingly senior financial roles for CMS Energy, managing all facets of accounting, treasury, budgeting and tax for International projects in Latin America and West Africa.
Rex Henderson - Vice President , Land and Contracts:
Rex joined Compass in July, 2007 with over 26 years experience in the energy industry. Prior to joining Compass, Rex has held senior and staff land positions with public companies such as Southwestern Energy Production Company and Carrizo Oil & Gas, Inc. While at Southwestern, Rex was a member of the Unconventional Resources Team pursuing high impact resource plays throughout the lower 48 states. Rex also supported a $100MM per year tight gas development project in Texas. At Carrizo, Rex worked on both exploration and development projects in Texas and Louisiana. Rex ran his own land brokerage firm for over 13 years, serving such prestigious industry clients as Atlantic Richfield Company, Eland Energy and Murphy Oil Corporation. In 1987, Rex passed the American Professional Landman Association’s nationwide certification examination to earn the designation of Certified Professional Landman. He has maintained his certification through continuing education since that time. Rex is a graduate of Northwestern State University in Louisiana.
Nancy Zamarron - Engineering Technician
Nancy has over ten years experience in Administration. Most of that time has been spent in the Oil and Gas industry with companies such as Shell, Burlington Resources, and ConocoPhillips. She has worked her way up starting as a Receptionist with her latest assignment being an Office Manager with a prestigious consulting firm. Nancy joined Compass Resources in January 2008 to undertake the challenge of becoming an Engineering Technician as well as performing Geological and IT related support activities.
Cindy Blom - Administrative Assistant
Cindy joined Compass after 30 years of combined industry experience at ARCO, Vastar Resources and BP. Throughout her career, she has held various support roles of increasing responsibility in a dynamic, growing industry. Early on, her primary focus was Production Operations, both Onshore South Texas and Offshore Gulf of Mexico. Later on, other areas included support for executives in Business and Finance, Land, Treasury, Investor Relations and Human Resources. Her most recent assignments at BP were in support of Performance Unit Leaders who had responsibility for Gulf of Mexico Shelf assets. Cindy was drawn to Compass because of its small company atmosphere and entrepreneurial spirit amidst a new and exciting chapter in the oil and gas industry.
